Confessions of a Three-Year-Old

This morning we were eating a nutritous breakfast of pop-tarts. :) Emma came running upstairs and exclaimed, "Mom, my special cracker (pop-tarts) tastes like play-dough!"
Gross! First of all that she knows what play-dough tastes like and yuck, do pop-tarts really taste like that. Maybe I should re-think breakfast on the go!

We're going on a trip...

So we just got back from a month long excursion to Idaho and Utah. We left our tax accountant home and went to play. I drove to Sacramento the first day and stayed with my aunt and then drove the rest of the way to Idaho the next day (I know, I know, insane with two little kiddos). We had so much fun visiting everyone! We miss you already!
Kevin missed the girls a ton. So on one of his outings, he decided to buy them new easter dresses. How cute! I made the flowers in their hair thanks to Rachel's mad crafting skills! On the return trip, Kevin met us in Reno. This was a cool site! (And it meant I was almost done driving...hooray!)

Camilla found my make-up. Naughty!
We got to visit both of my Grandmas. I am sad that I don't get to see them as much.

Camilla was being a pill and wouldn't pose with Grandma Benson. (Too close to nap time)

Why I can't have another baby....this one still is the baby. Cami climbed into my nephew's bassinette.
Ready for our trip....oh boy!

Half way through, my camera batteries died. I know, I'm cool. :( So the rest of the pics will have to come courtesy of friends. The rest are just random happenings.
This is the girls helping out with the dishes. I really hope that they will be the best of friends.
Emma is gaining independance. And doing her own hair. She had every clip in her hair.

A favorite pass time....riding bikes on the back porch. Don't worry, we now have a helmet that really does fit Cami.

Good news!

This far side made me laugh as I was looking for a good accountant pic. Kevin does not look like this, but our good news is that he passed the CPA!!!!!
We feel so blessed to have passed it. That was the reason why we moved in with family for 6 months, so Kevin could study. And with the trials, come the blessings...he passed! And there was great rejoicing in our house!

Tax Season

Tax season is crazy busy. Our time together is very little. So what do we do? Home projects! And after 5 years of marriage we finally put together a bathroom. Even funnier, we haven't owned a 'decorative' shower curtain ever. What is the change of mind? More like a change of price. I found this little gem for $3. And the flowers and vase? Dollar store! Judge me if you want, I am cheap!
And since most of the time Kevin is MIA, us girls (okay maybe just me) stay busy doing things like this: This is a chore chart that my friend created. I borrowed the idea and changed it and added a little of my vinyl touch. :) It is magnetic and the girls have magnets that they move down to the solid color when they have completed their chores for the day. (Keep in mind that they are 3 and 1 so I included things like brushing teeth and getting dressed. :) They get a marble when they complete a task and when their jar is full, we get a treat! This idea I also stole from a friend (like I am creative enough to come up with things on my own...yeah right!). I use recipe cards (or scraps of paper) for my recipes. So now they cannot move while cooking! I also made the star magnets. Aren't they cool? I thought this would be a fun and cheap Super Saturday project. (Which if you do want to do, let me know and I can do the vinyl for ya!). I should also add-Kevin routed the edges for me with his cool new router!
Hope ya'll are enjoying tax season! April 15th is going to be a great day!

Random happenings

So not a day goes by that Emma doesn't ask about our stolen bikes. She asks questions like, "Mom, what is that guy's name, the one who stole your bike?" Or "is the guy in jail that stole daddy's bike?" Anyway, tonight she handed me her Dora magnadoodle and said, "Mom, this is a picture of the guy who stole your bike." I burst out laughing and grabbed the camera. And here it is, the guy who stole our bike....so if you see him, let me know. :)
With the start of tax season, I have embarked on numerous projects. The first to be completed, my new scarf. I found it at this awesome website that has me addicted.
Just some funny pics of our girls. Eating/making a mess with cookies!
One thing I HATE about our house is that the dining area is CARPETED!!! Who does that? Someone without toddlers! So my ingenious husband came up with the idea of putting down plywood and putting purgo flooring over the top. Genius! Here he is hard at work. (Did I mention that we got the purgo for free on Craigslist?-we love it out here, stay tuned for my craigslist post someday, it is a little bit out of control what we have found for cheap or free!)

Do you remember these skates? I loved them growing up. Emma is sure sportin a cute look eh?

And p.s. I am so glad it is February! I hate January. Bring on the lovin, pink, and all my holidays!

Do you ever?

Do you ever have days or weeks or months when you feel like the maid? The chef? The babysitter? And do you ever feel like you really really really stink at all these things? Or maybe you don't stink but you are just mediocre. And so everything you do gets a half-crap job And then if it isn't bad already, you meet a woman who does all of it and is really really really good at it.
Maybe its me. Or maybe its January. Or maybe it is that is raining and going to rain all week (yes, I know we are in a drought, but I have toddlers!) Or maybe it is that bike numero tres got stolen today. Either way, I think I've got the blues.
So to lighten the mood, I found a funny video about the never ending laundry. And because I am computer lame I can't attach a movie from you tube (any help?). Anyway, go to you tube and enter Hilary Weeks laundry. It is awesome and way worth 2 minutes of laughs.
